Linda Hallock
My family
The Hallocks
Welcome to my area.  I love working with my students, I love teaching, I love math and art, and I love learning new things.

I currently teach math (algebra 2 and geometry) at Gordon Parks High School and have been a member of the ALC staff since its founding in 1991 at Unidale Mall.

As the ALC program grew, my responsibilities grew from teaching math and art (my other teaching major) at Unidale to also teaching math at several of our extended sites (Creative Arts, Gateway, Focus-on-Five).  I enjoyed the challenge of teaching all levels of math and working with students one-on-one in both math and art.  For Creative Arts I created a course, Mathematics in Art, focusing on the strong correlation between the two subjects.

Continued growth at Unidale meant I was able to expand my art curriculum to include photography and fashion design and my math curriculum to include technical math, medical math, logic, and hands-on-geometry.  Eventually I was joined by another art teacher and another math teacher to serve our much larger student population.  Since our

move to the newly built Gordon Parks High School, I have limited my teaching to standards based math classes, but still try to include hands-on and art related activities in my math curriculum.

In St. Paul prior to teaching at ALC, I taught math and art at Open School, English as a Second Language at Johnson High School, and math at Cleveland Junior High.  Before teaching in St. Paul, I taught math and art in North Dakota (LaMoure and West Fargo) and in Morton, Minnesota.

My Bachelor of Science (in math and art education) and Master of Education degrees were both earned at North Dakota State University.

In my free-time I enjoy spending time with my family, gardening (flowers), photography (digital and 35mm), sewing and handwork, design, woodworking, reading, music, puzzles, technology, and travel.

My belief:  Twenty-four hours in a day is not enough time to do and learn all the things I desire --- I never have time to be bored.
