Greetings, I’m Steve Lindberg, Principal; I would like to welcome you to our new building, Gordon Parks High School. Our building is named in honor of a great American legend, someone who can stand as a role model for our students, that person of course is Gordon Parks, photographer, poet, novelist and film director to name a few of his many talents.. We at Gordon Parks have a vision. It is:”Gordon Parks High School creates conditions for learning where students and staff believe their own efforts create their ability to succeed”. It is this vision and the role model of Gordon Parks which will lead to the ultimate success of our students.
We also have a value of working with our community to make it a better place for those who come after us. It is, “To insure ongoing communication and collaboration to strengthen our community through shared values and goals”. Over the years, our school has partnered with many groups from the community. Those groups continue to be active in working to make the community a better place to live, work, study and grow. Some examples are: Soul Touch productions, Wilder foundation, Guadalupe Alternative Project, Afro-Eco, Bethel University, the Gordon Parks foundation, and the Peace Garden to name a few.
Every parent works extremely hard to give their child all the opportunities they can to become a productive and contributing member of society. Parents, Thank you for letting the staff of Gordon Parks High School the opportunity to partner with you to raise our next generation of productive and creative citizens.
All of the hard work involved in making Gordon Parks high school a reality does one thing, I believe, it says to our students, “you are important to us, we believe in you as young adults”. Our students are valued because they are our future and we as adults need them as much as they need us.
